The Laboratory Animal Facility (LAF) operates under the oversight of the University\u2019s <strong>Animal Ethics Committee (AEC)<\/strong>, which is responsible for the governance, development, and continual review of the Institution\u2019s animal care and use program.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The program is developed in accordance with best practices and the standards outlined in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Hong Kong\u2019s Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Experimental Purposes (2004)<\/strong>, published by the Animal Welfare Advisory Group of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department; and<\/li>\n<li><strong>The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, 8th Edition (2011)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>LAF\u2019s role is to <strong>implement and comply with all requirements established by the AEC <\/strong>, as well as applicable local regulations and institutional policies.
