Confirmation of Export Requirements and Tentative Schedule<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Before initiating the exportation process, users must confirm that the proposed export complies with the <strong>approved Animal Experimental Protocol<\/strong> and the requirements of the <strong>destination country<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Users must submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/apcf-infosite.hkust.edu.hk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/LAF-Service-Request-Blank-Form-2025-02-19-1.pdf\">Service Request Form<\/a> and an <a href=\"https:\/\/apcf-infosite.hkust.edu.hk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Animal-Exportation-Form-filliabe-2025-01-16.pdf\">Animal Exportation Form<\/a> to LAF, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Destination of export<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Species, strain, sex, age, and quantity<\/strong> of animals to be exported<\/li>\n<li><strong>Current animal location within LAF<\/strong> (Zone, Room, Rack)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tentative export date<\/strong>, coordinated with a courier capable of transporting live animals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p><em>Please allow at least <strong>4 weeks<\/strong> from initiation to completion of an animal export.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Cage cards must be <strong>clearly and appropriately tagged<\/strong> to facilitate inspection by the Attending Veterinarian (AV) and reference by Government officials.<\/p>\n<h3>Preliminary Veterinary Assessment<\/h3>\n<p>Upon receipt of the exportation form, the LAF veterinary team will conduct a <strong>preliminary assessment<\/strong> of animal health and welfare suitability for transport. The veterinary team will also:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Determine the <strong>appropriate allocation of animals to transport boxes<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Confirm the <strong>number and type of transport boxes required<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Allocation of animals into transport boxes <strong>must be approved by the veterinary team<\/strong> prior to submitting any application to a logistics company. Allocation will be assessed in accordance with <strong>animal welfare standards<\/strong> and <strong>local and international transport guidelines<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Users should confirm any <strong>special export conditions or documentation requirements<\/strong> mandated by the destination country.<\/p>\n<p>Where required, <strong>health surveillance reports<\/strong> can be provided by LAF for submission to the receiving institution once a completed exportation form is received<br \/>\n(Contact: <strong>Dr Dawn Ngai, <a href=\"mailto:dawnngai@ust.hk\">dawnngai@ust.hk<\/a><\/strong>).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Step 2. Regulatory Applications and Documentation<\/h2>\n<p>Users must complete and submit the following documents to LAF for <strong>AV endorsement<\/strong> and coordination of <strong>Government inspection<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>LAF Health Certificate for Export of Research Rodents (for <a href=\"https:\/\/apcf-infosite.hkust.edu.hk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/LAF-Health-certificate-for-exporting-animals-CHINABlank-fillable.pdf\">China<\/a>, for <a href=\"https:\/\/apcf-infosite.hkust.edu.hk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/LAF-Health-certificate-for-exporting-animals-MACAU-Blank-fillable.pdf\">Macau<\/a>, for <a href=\"https:\/\/apcf-infosite.hkust.edu.hk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/LAF-Health-certificate-for-exporting-animals-KOREA-BLANK-FORM.pdf\">Korea<\/a>)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>UN109<\/strong> <em>(China only)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Attachment 3 <\/strong><em>(China only)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Application for Sanitary Certificate for Products of Animal Origin<\/strong> <em>(embryo export only)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Packing list<\/strong> <em>(must be pre\u2011approved by the LAF Veterinary team)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Commercial or pro\u2011forma invoice<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Import License issued by destination authorities<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>LAF will assist with scheduling the <strong>Government veterinary inspection<\/strong>, which will be conducted <strong>within 24 hours prior to the export date for China or Macau, or within 10 days for other countries<\/strong>, once complete documentation is received.<\/p>\n<h3>Export of Mice to Mainland China<\/h3>\n<p>For mice exportation to Mainland China, users are responsible for applying to the <strong>Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD)<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Submit <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.afcd.gov.hk\/english\/quarantine\/qua_ie\/qua_ie_eapao\/files\/AF300_HCA_Mar17B.pdf\">AF300<\/a> \u2013 HCA application form<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Pay the applicable fees (subject to AFCD fee schedule):\n<ul>\n<li><strong>HKD 654<\/strong> for consignments up to 50 animals<\/li>\n<li><strong>HKD 1,850<\/strong> for mandatory Government veterinary inspection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications should be submitted <strong>at least 2 weeks in advance<\/strong> to allow sufficient time for arranging a Government visit once the export is confirmed.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Step 3. Preparation of Animals for Export and Inspection<\/h2>\n<p>Prior to export:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Approved <strong>transport boxes and partitions<\/strong> (where applicable) must be prepared<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hydrogel<\/strong> must be prepared as required.<\/li>\n<li>Animals must <strong>remain in their assigned transport allocation<\/strong> and should not be rearranged<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Any animals identified with clinical concerns by the veterinary team must be <strong>replaced or removed<\/strong> in accordance with veterinary advice.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Step 4. Transportation and Day\u2011of\u2011Export Handover<\/h2>\n<p>Unless otherwise agreed, users are responsible for coordinating transportation with their selected courier.<\/p>\n<p>On the day of export:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Animals will undergo a <strong>final health and welfare check<\/strong> by LAF<\/li>\n<li>Animals will be placed in transport boxes <strong>according to the approved allocation<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Users are responsible for ensuring that animals are <strong>securely packed<\/strong> and released to the logistics company at the designated location<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Users must verify that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>correct animals<\/strong> are exported<\/li>\n<li>All <strong>required documentation<\/strong> accompanies the shipment<\/li>\n<li>Transport containers meet <strong>regulatory and animal welfare requirements<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Step 5. Post\u2011Export Responsibilities<\/h2>\n<p>Following exportation, users must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that <strong>required government declarations<\/strong> are lodged within <strong>14 days<\/strong>, where applicable<\/li>\n<li>Notify LAF once exportation has been <strong>successfully completed<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Any issues arising during transport or upon arrival at the destination must be <strong>reported promptly<\/strong> to LAF.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Enquiries and Support<\/h2>\n<p>For veterinary review, biosecurity assessment, documentation endorsement, or coordination of Government inspection, please contact:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr Dawn Ngai <\/strong>(<a href=\"mailto:dawnngai@ust.hk\">dawnngai@ust.hk<\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Step 1.
