Laboratory Record Auditing<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Selected licensees will be required to present the following records to evaluate whether the licensees are performing animal experiments strictly according to the respective Form 2 issued by the Department of Health and according to other requirements in Cap. 340.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Your laboratory records<\/strong> on animal experiments, including the followings\n<ul>\n<li>The procedure(s) being done in each experiment<\/li>\n<li>The animals being consumed (with details on specie and quantity used in each experiment), and<\/li>\n<li>The anesthetic(s) being used, if applicable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>A copy of the <strong>Form 6 (Report of Experiment)<\/strong> for the last year and the current year\n<ul>\n<li>The type of experiments, anesthetics and number of animals being consumed must be\u00a0 in consistent with the information in your laboratory records AND in the <strong>Form 7<\/strong> (Return of Experiment)<\/li>\n<li>Please refer to LAF <em><a href=\"https:\/\/apcf-infosite-dev.hkust.edu.hk\/?page_id=1379\">Animal License webpage <\/a><\/em>for the details on the Governmental Form 2, Form 6 and Form 7.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>II. Laboratory Visit<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The Governmental officers may also make surprise\/notified visits to the animal experimental areas and holding areas. The areas include the followings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>YOUR LABORATORIES <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Potentially used for animal handling and temporary animal holding<\/li>\n<li>Please refer to the mandatory LAF training materials <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/apcf-infosite-dev.hkust.edu.hk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/LAF-Animal-User-Manual-2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LAF Animal U<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/apcf-infosite-dev.hkust.edu.hk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/LAF-Animal-User-Manual-2021.pdf\">ser Manual<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>(Section 17) and <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/apcf-infosite-dev.hkust.edu.hk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/General-Animal-Use-Training-2021.pdf\">General Animal Use Training <\/a><\/em><\/strong>(Part 3) for the recommended practices on animal handling and temporary animal holding outside LAF, and the <strong>LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATORS.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>LAF<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The animal and experimental areas being specified in users licenses.<\/li>\n<li>LAF staff are obligated to provide information on users&#8217; animal handling activities in LAF.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Health visits HKUST every year for compliance audits for Animals (Control of Experiments) Ordinance (Cap. 340).\u00a0 I.
